Every year, we enter the holiday season with a renewed determination to “get it right” this year. We’re going to get the shopping done earlier, make better choices at the office party, not spend as much, and have better boundaries with our in-laws. That’s all great but it doesn’t bring us to what our souls long for - a meaningful encounter with Jesus.
This year, we want to lean into the desire to get it right by focusing on what it looks like to get Christmas right from a biblical perspective. We’re going to do that by looking at five people or groups of people who get Christmas right in the gospels: Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph, the wise man, and the angels. They will show us what it looks like to get Christmas right. These simple answers will breathe life into our weary souls and connect us with God in this season. Join us as we discover what it looks like to have a Christmas shaped by:
HUMILITY ----- ADVENT WEEK 1
Do you ever feel like your life couldn’t possibly matter to God? In this first week of advent we’re going to be talking about God’s desire to include each one of us in what He’s doing in the world.
HOSPITALITY ----- ADVENT WEEK 2
We often think about church as a place for people who have it all together. But that’s not God’s design. He wants His church to welcome everyone, including those who know they don’t have it together! For the second week of advent we'll be exploring what that would actually look like.
FORGIVENESS ----- ADVENT WEEK 3
Carrying a grudge is exhausting. This week we’re going to be talking about the freedom and joy we find through forgiveness.
WORSHIP ----- ADVENT WEEK 4
If the Christmas story is true, how should we respond to it? What does it look like to celebrate something that happened 2,000 years ago? Join us for the fourth Sunday of advent as we take a look.
JOY ----- CHRISTMAS EVE
The stress and pressure of life can choke the joy out of Christmas. Join us on Christmas Eve as we celebrate Jesus learn how we can help others experience the joy of this season.

Can I bring my kids?
Absolutely! Kids are always welcome at our gatherings. We have a dedicated kids program called RCC Kids if you'd like them to engage in an age-specific environment. Or they can always join you in our main gathering too!

Is there a dresscode?
Nope! From jeans and your best ugly Christmas sweater, all the way to suite and tie, feel free to wear whatever is most comfortable to you! We tend towards the casual side, but chances are you'll see a bit of everything.
Where should I park?
Great question! Restoration City meets in a public middle school theater, so there's always plenty of parking. And we always save a few spots right up front for visitors, so we've got you covered!
What does a typical service look like?
Our gatherings include a mix of elements: contemporary songs, opportunities for prayer and conversation, and a message from our Lead Pastor, John McGowan. Don't forget, it's Christmas time, so you can count on singing a couple Christmas classics as well!

ABOUT US
Restoration City Church exists to make disciples of Jesus for the restoration of DC. To us, church isn't an event you attend, but a community you join. So we are a gospel community seeking to encounter God, to be formed by Him in all aspects of life, and to participate in His mission of restoration both locally and abroad.
Our Lead Pastor, John McGowan, and his wife, Laura, planted RCC in the fall of 2014 through the Summit Collaborative in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. Since then, we've seen so many lives transformed by the power of the gospel, and we continue to grow as a community of faith living for the glory of Christ and the good of our city. We'd love for you to be a part of what God is doing here!
